The human form.

That was my strength. I was always drawing as a kid. Anatomy, faces, pose. It was a gift that never stopped flowing. By college, I was off to the Savannah College of Art and Design with the idea of becoming the next great comic book Illustrator. I always admired artist Mike Mignola for his mastery of light—but that skill remained frustratingly out of my reach.

In those years, I was deeply entrenched in punk and hardcore music, both as a fan and musician. Graphic design was thriving in the scene at the time. The precision and breadth of design was so attractive after years of repetitive figure drawing. By the end of school, I’d graduated with a degree in Graphic Design and lined up the Art Director job at a small, but influential, culture/fashion magazine. That gig carried me to the Art Director job at RideBMX Magazine in Southern California and eventually to working as the Print Art Director for TBS, TCM and Turner Classic Movies in Atlanta.

After working for years with the images of the world’s most prominent entertainment photographers, I’d started becoming fluent in my understanding of light and began shooting photographs myself.

Light and the human form.

I’d finally found a sort of creative harmony—and, more importantly, creative satisfaction. All of the skills I’d gained, the places I’d been, and the images that I’d studied began to gel together. This led me to starting my own entertainment photography and design studio, and eventually to Nashville, where I now work as Creative Director for Sony Music Nashville.

I live in Nashville, Tennessee with my beautiful wife, Jessica, and my three children, River, Scout and Sailor June. Music remains every bit the passion it was in my youth, although you’ll mostly find Country and Americana playing in our house these days. I’m still playing guitar, too—although its now with my 9-year-old son on the drums.
